BOSF History
1991
The Tropenbos Foundation in Balikpapan with the coordination of the Directorate General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation of the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry, started the orangutan conservation project.
1994
The Balikpapan Orangutan Society was founded.
1998
The Balikpapan Orangutan Society was re-founded with a new name: The Balikpapan Orangutan Survival Foundation.
1999
The Balikpapan Orangutan Survival Foundation signed an MoU with the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry, represented by the Directorate General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation.
2003
The Balikpapan Orangutan Survival Foundation was renamed to The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation.
