Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF)

BOS Foundation is looking for a Fundraising Assistant. This is a newly created role in our organisation. Having already established successful fundraising initiatives we now need to expand that urgently and substantially to save orangutans. The Fundraising Assistant will report to the Fundraising Expert and work closely with the Senior Advisors for Programs and Planning and Communications.

Job Description

The Fundraising Assistant will focus on implementing online fundraising and support corporate, foundation and major donor fundraising, working under the guidance of the Fundraising Expert and with the Communications and Programs Departments. Our strategic pillars are corporate fundraising in Indonesia and Asia, Foundation and major donor fundraising worldwide as well as establishing innovative online fundraising that generates results. You will work with our team in developing integrated fundraising campaigns. That includes innovating and developing new ways of online fundraising through social media. Working closely with the team, you will spearhead strategic fundraising initiatives. You will be able to work to tight deadlines and budgets, plan and be pro-active and have a very good eye for detail. You will also need to work with (potential) major donors globally.

The Successful Applicant

We are looking for someone with 5+ years working experience in fundraising, (online) marketing or related specialization. You need to be passionate about saving orangutans. We need someone who can find new ways of getting people involved in our cause and translating that into donations. We need you to have experience in project management and ownership, experience in managing budgets, and working to targets and deadlines. We also need you to be inspiring, creative, driven and innovative. Applicants must have excellent English and Bahasa Indonesia writing and verbal communication skills.

What's on Offer

BOS Foundation has started on a large scale to release rehabilitated orangutans back into the forest, this is really exciting time for us, which requires detailed planning and extra funds, but also puts us in the limelight of the media. We are looking to increase our support from within Indonesia, an exciting time to do innovative fundraising. The right applicant will be offered substantial training and/or mentoring to supplement their fundraising knowledge where needed.

Fundraising Expert

The Fundraising Expert will sit directly under the CEO and work closely with the Program and Planning and Communications Departments.

Job Description

The Fundraising Expert will focus on establishing a successful and thriving fundraising team, working closely with communications and programs. Our strategic pillars are corporate fundraising in Indonesia and Asia, Foundation and major donor fundraising worldwide as well as establishing innovative online fundraising that gets results. You will develop and project manage integrated fundraising campaigns. That includes innovating and developing new ways of online fundraising through social media. Working closely with senior management, you will spearhead strategic fundraising initiatives. You will manage staff responsible for these programs, strategize and keep a close eye on the strategic priorities and budgets, but equally complete hands-on work and have a very good eye for detail. You will also need to work with potential major donors globally.

  • Follow up on existing relationships with the private sector to further develop support
  • Work in close collaboration with the Heads of Department (Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and Communications) on all areas of communication, program budget requirements and proposal materials.
  • Write/ edit proposals, presentations and other fundraising materials in both English and Bahasa Indonesia
  • Provide regular reports to management including evaluations of fundraising initiatives
  • Maximize the selling of merchandise
