LITTLE KEJORA THRIVES IN NURSERY GROUP

You may remember that earlier this year we rescued a female baby orangutan called Kejora (Read her rescue story here: Baby Kejora).  At the time of her rescue, our team learned that Kejora had endured six months chained to the door of an oil palm facility, surrounded by dangerous fertilizers and pesticides. She was very weak and malnourished and required intensive care from our medical team at Nyaru Menteng.

We are pleased to report that Kejora has recovered well and has since moved from quarantine to Nyaru Menteng’s Forest School Nursery Group.

Kejora plays actively in the trees at Forest School, and while she seems to prefer spending time alone, she also enjoys playing with other babies, Meryl and Fathia.

Kejora likes all kinds of fruit and vegetables given to her by the babysitters and likes to swing on her favourite spot while eating. She also loves her milk and is usually the first eager youngster to come forward during milk time.

Kejora seems to enjoy the Forest School and the loving care our dedicated babysitters provide has seen her adapt a healthy self-confidence. She still has a long way to go, but we are really pleased with her progress so far.
