Six More Orangutans Get Their Freedom in the Kehje Sewen Forest!

In cooperation with PT. RHOI and the East Kalimantan BKSDA, the BOS Foundation has successfully released six more orangutans to the Kehje Sewen Forest in East Kutai Regency. All six released orangutans had completed a long period of rehabilitation over several years through our Forest School system.

Salat Island Welcomes Six New Residents

We have exciting news and are pleased to report that today we successfully transferred another five orangutans – males,Ariel, Sponge Bob, and Sanamangand females; Buntok and Mawas - from our Orangutan Reintroduction Center at Nyaru Menteng to Salat pre-release island in Central Kalimantan.

[PRESS RELEASE] Salat Island to Carry More Pre-Release Orangutans

The BOS Foundation will today relocate six rehabilitated orangutans from its Orangutan Reintroduction Centre in Nyaru Menteng to the pre-release habitat of Salat Island in Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan. The BOS Foundation manages the Salat pre-release island located in the delta of Kahayan river with support from PT.SSMS Tbk.

BOS Foundation Marks 60th Anniversary of Central Kalimantan Province with an Orangutan Release

BOS Foundation has released six more orangutans to the Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park (BBBR-NP) in Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan. This is the 17th orangutan release by BOS Foundation Nyaru Menteng and one that also commemorates the 60th anniversary of Central Kalimantan Province, which falls on May 23, 2017.

About BOS Foundation

Established in 1991, the Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Foundation is an Indonesian non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of the Bornean orangutan and its habitat, in cooperation with local communities, the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry and international partner organizations.

The BOS Foundation is currently taking care of almost 750 orangutans with the support of 400 highly devoted staff, as well as experts in primatology, biodiversity, ecology, forest rehabilitation, agroforestry, community empowerment, education, and orangutan healthcare.
